The family is a favorite New Testament picture of the local church. Christians are addressed as brothers and sisters in Christ. Older saints are honored as mothers and fathers in the faith. Younger members are little children, young men, or precious sisters. God is our loving Heavenly Father, Christ our Firstborn Brother.
